Cormac Dunne has been named as the new head of real estate and will be responsible for overseeing the management of property portfolios managed and serviced by Pepper, set up in 2012 to manage third-party loan portfolios and commercial and industrial asset management.

He was previously head of property at Warren Private and has also held positions with Keppel REIT in Singapore, Mirvac REIT in Australia and Savills. “Cormac brings with him vast experience of Irish and international property markets,” commented Pepper Ireland boss Paul Doddrell.

Richard Stuart has been promoted to senior portfolio manager, with special responsibility for a range of institutional deleveraging platforms as well as loan book underwriting for multinational investors. Working for the Lloyds Banking Group in London, as an internal property adviser, he oversaw the management of a £24m loan book.

And chartered surveyor Lisa Finn has joined Pepper as a portfolio manager and will be responsible for carrying out diligence on all acquisitions. She has eight years experience in acquisitions, valuations and asset management.

”These appointments bolster the credentials of our commercial property division even further, helping us to cement our position in this marketplace and achieve our long term ambitions to grow the company in Ireland,” added Doddrell.

Naylors Chartered Surveyors — one of the leading independent commercial property consultants in the North-East — has added two new members to its building consultancy team.

Surveyor Dean Clark, who previously worked for RNJ Construction Consultants and Jones Lang LaSalle, will now have special responsibility for dilapidations, contract administration and building and acquisition surveys.

And Eleanor Marley-Lawson joins the Newcastle-based team as a graduate building surveyor after recently gaining a BSc(Hons) degree in building surveying at Northumbria University.

Continued growth has allowed property consultancy GVA to make two promotions and a new appointment within its Yorkshire office.

Chris Jones, who joined the firm last year, will now take a lead role in driving forward the planning, development and regeneration functions across the Yorkshire and Humber region. He will be working alongside director Dale Robinson.

GVA’s Leeds-based valuation team is also expanding with the promotion of Jared Thompson to director to lead the team and the recruitment of Jamie Gellert as senior surveyor.

Opus North — the leading Yorkshire-based property development and investment company — has recruited Robb Smillie as a retail and leisure specialist. A Leeds University graduate, he joins Opus North from Leeds property consultancy WSB.

North West niche commercial law firm, Taylors, has named Nick Trowell as the new partner heading its commercial property department.

Moving from Manchester-based Heatons, where he led the commercial team, Trowell was previously a partner at Eversheds. During his 20 years as a commercial specialist he has acted for developers, investors, lenders, national retailers and commercial property owners.

Speaking of his appointment, Trowell commented, “I am delighted to be joining one of the few truly commercial mid-tier practices in the North West and I am looking forward to working with the firm’s existing and new clients to deliver its range of niche commercial legal services.”

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) has boosted its property and asset management team in Bristol and the South West with a promotion and transfer.

Overseeing regional business worth £1.3m, Jo Edwards has taken over as lead director of property and asset management across the South West. She has been with the firm for 19 years and a commercial property director for the last ten years.

Caroline Cubbin — who started her career with JLL in 2012 under the graduate programme — has also transferred to the property and asset management team.
