Hinton Properties has announced that planning permission has been granted to transform a former Worcester furniture shop into a Sainsbury’s Local store.
The Midlands based firm, which specialises in land acquisition and development, is working in partnership with PMG Investments to deliver the new store.
When the refurbishment and extension of the Barbourne Road property is complete it will provide 4,000 sq ft of retail space, which is expected to create between 20 and 25 local jobs.
Hinton Properties Managing Director, James Hinton, welcomed the planning decision: “We are delighted to have gained approval for this development and in a premium location of Worcester too,” he said.
“We are also pleased to be able to increase employment in the area and footfall for other local businesses.”
Sainsbury’s Acquisition Manager Andrew Manger also welcomed the news, saying that the new store will provide extra choice and convenience for shoppers when it opens later this year.
Construction is due to commence this month with completion expected in the autumn.
