Professionals from a variety of firms in Bristol helped to raise money for a locally-based green transport charity by taking part in the annual Colliers International TRYathlon.
With competitors able to enter as individuals or in teams of three, more than170 representatives from over 40 local firms took part in the event, easily surpassing last year’s figure.
Events included a 400m swim, a 5km run and 16km cycle ride. All the proceeds received from registration fees were donated to Sustrans, Colliers’ chosen charity partner for this year.
Head of Colliers’ Bristol office Tim Davies (pictured top) completed all three of the elements of the race, a feat he has repeated since the TRYathlon was launched in 2013. CEO Tony Horrell also shares the distinction of competing every year.
“Bristol is European Green Capital for 2015, and as part of that we are supporting Sustrans, which works with communities, policy-makers and partner organisations to ensure people can choose healthier, cleaner and cheaper journeys and enjoy better, safer places to live,” Mr Davies said, after the event at Tockington Manor School.
“This was another fantastic Colliers TRYathlon, with numbers up on last year. We hope to see even more people competing next year,” he continued.
The Colliers International TRYathlon was launched to create the incentive for the local business community to get fit and raise money for charity.
Tim Davies added: “Judging by the record number of firms and competitors taking part, I feel we have established the TRYathlon as one of the must-do events in the Bristol business calendar.”
The fastest man at the TRYathlon was Iain Hissett of Hydrock in a time of 55.22, while Jo Crofts of Knight Frank was the fastest female competitor and WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff were the fastest relay team.
