Three years after it was launched Square One Law — named after its philosophy of providing a back-to-basics service — has doubled the size of its commercial property department.
The existing four-strong Newcastle-based team of Barney Frith, Peter Clegg, Satpal Panda and Jenny Atkin is being joined by senior associate Michael Shuker and property finance expert Helen Warren, who trained with City firm Pincent Mason.
Another new team member is conveyancing partner Francesca Angelucci who is moving to the North-East from niche London private client firm Judge Sykes Frixou.
They are being joined in the New Year by Malcolm Wood, who will act for investors and owner-occupiers in the acquisition and disposal of all commercial property.
The larger property team also falls in line with Square One’s strategy of increasing its connections with London-centric clients and property deals. “I am very excited by the potential of the team,” explained commercial property head, Barney Frith.
“Our reputation in the property sector has organically grown with the market and between us we have built some very strong relationships with developers in London.”

Birmingham-based CPBigwood has added to its commercial property department with the hiring of surveyor Leah Cave.
After graduating from the University of the West of England at Bristol, she gained experience working as an assistant in the property litigation department of law firm Harrison Clark Rickerbys. At CPBigwood Cave will be assisting the commercial agency department with lettings, sales and the acquisition of retail, office and industrial units throughout the West Midlands.
