The global management and consultancy services company WSP — recently named “Best Commissioning Provider” in the United States — has confirmed its UK expansion with a number of appointments in its Yorkshire office.
Based in Leeds the consultancy’s environment team is currently working on a number of high-profile projects including a feasibility and options appraisal report on two £250m developments in Lincoln.
To boost the team, acoustics expert Jordan Mayes is joining as a senior engineer. He previously managed the assessment of construction noise for the proposed works at Euston Station, as part of the HS2 Environmental Statement.
Brandon Waddington is also joining the Leeds office on a three-year apprenticeship, specialising in land restoration and ground engineering. Other appointments include ecologist Philip Dutt and consultant Michal Lukianowicz.
Commercial property expert Garry Brett — a member of the Investment Property Forum and the Federation of Corporate Real Estate Advisers — is joining Kent law firm Cripps as a partner.
Previously with Stevens & Bolton in Guildford, and with more than 30 years’ experience, he has worked on large residential developments, commercial investment, office and industrial development, corporate real estate and high-end residential refurbishments.
Cripps currently employs 47 staff across its Tunbridge Wells, Kings Hill, Sandwich and London offices. Brett will be joining its commercial real estate team.
Newcastle-based Muckle LLP has made four new appointments to its commercial property team.
Alex Hunter, Ian Gibson and Rhiannon Griffiths have joined the firm and solicitor Andrew Thirlwall has qualified into the team, after spending two years as a trainee. All three senior solicitors have considerable expertise within the sector.
Hunter has more than nine years’ experience of real estate work, including landlord and tenant matters, property finance, freehold and leasehold acquisitions, disposals and development projects.
Gibson has four years’ experience of acting for commercial developers and the public sector on a variety of real estate matters across the North-East. And Griffiths has advised a range of leading UK financial services institutions on commercial real estate and finance transactions.
Urban regeneration specialist Muse Developments has made two appointments to its nationwide team.

After working for Spenhill, the separate development arm of the Tesco Group, Andrew Boyle will work from Muse’s London office where he will focus on a £140m regeneration scheme in Brixton.
Martin McGowan and Robert Kos have been hired as consultants by services and investment managers Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL).

Also in Manchester, international law firm Hill Dickinson has strengthened its property and construction team with two new appointments.
