Scottish legal services provider Millar and Brice has named Fiona Morton as its new managing director. Her appointment comes as the firm announces a drive to increase its commercial and infrastructure-related property transactions.
Describing the current property market as “very exciting” Morton, the former managing partner and chair of commercial consultants Ryden LLP, said: “Not only are there encouraging signs of a step change in activity, but there are many ways to enhance our business as we work with our customers to deliver new services.”
Originally training as a surveyor, she joined Ryden in 1989. During her time with the Glasgow-based company she was seconded to the Royal Bank of Scotland and, on her 2005 return, was appointed a managing partner and Ryden’s chair six year later. Morten eventually stepped down last October.
“Joining a successful firm with a rich Scottish history backed by global investment offers an opportunity too good to miss,” added Morton. “The time is right to grow the business and I’m very much looking forward to getting to know customers, staff and suppliers in the coming weeks and developing our strategy for the years ahead.”

The manager of Edinburgh Airport’s property team is moving to Scotland’s second city to take up a post with Shepherd Chartered Surveyors.
A graduate of Glasgow Caledonian University with a degree in property management and valuation, Hazel Wilson has also worked as a valuer in both Lanarkshire and Glasgow Assessors offices and as a surveyor with City Property in Glasgow.
“Hazel’s principal role will involve the provision of services to a number of long-standing investor clients by identifying and exploiting opportunities to add value to their properties through the application of proactive property management techniques – an area in which she has a wide range of experience,” said Steve Barnett, a commercial partner at Shepherd’s Glasgow office.
