A trainee chartered surveyor in the Gloucester office of Bruton Knowles has completed his first major deal — on a freehold property valued at more than £1m.
William Matthews joined Bruton Knowles last year with a commercial property degree from the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester. Now, after marketing a former care home for the sellers, he has sold the Hucclecote Road property as a development investment.
“It is thrilling to have completed my first big deal where I was involved from start to finish,” he admitted. “I wasn’t expecting to be able to do this so early in my career. It was a proud moment.”
Matthews added: “I have been working in the agency department for just under a year and have been involved in lease deals and commercial lettings, but it is good to have such a sizeable freehold deal under my belt.
“I had the experienced commercial agency and development teams supporting me and underpinning everything I did, but it was still great to be given the opportunity to undertake a transaction with this calibre of property.”
The Gloucester property, which stands in 1.33-acres of land, was used as a boarding school before being converted to a care home. “The sellers are happy with the price achieved and the buyers have an exciting project to take forward,” added Matthews.
And he has already moved on to his next big project — The Grange, a residential development opportunity in Churchdown, which he expects to bring to the market later this month.
Established over 150 years ago, Bruton Knowles is a national multi-disciplinary consultancy with thirteen offices across the UK.
