A global commercial property adviser has boosted its Birmingham office with a round of 12 promotions — including the appointment of two new executive directors.
Ed Gamble and Ashley Hancox, both CBRE veterans, head the list of promotions at the consultancy’s Temple Row offices in Birmingham. Of the ten other staff promotions, five are stepping up from senior surveyor to associate director.
After joining CBRE in 2011, Gamble — who works in the agency’s capital markets team — has acted on some of the city’s biggest property deals including advising on the £131m acquisition of Seven, Eight and Ten Brindleyplace. He also acquired Priory and Temple Court for £80m on behalf of Legal & General
Hancox has been head of office agency at CBRE in Birmingham since 2008 when he joined the firm following its acquisition of property consultancy GSD. Two years later he was promoted to head of regional office agency and, in 2014, managed the relocation of CBRE’s city base from Cornwall Court to Temple Row.
The firm’s new associate directors are: David Bullimore (rating), Stelios Demetriou (lease consultancy), Simon Etough (asset services), Jan Losch (valuation) and Sarah Pritchard (global corporate services).
Three staff members — Toby Bowser (building consultancy and design), Stephanie Cartwright (rating) and Verity Cubitt (valuation) — have moved up from surveyor to senior surveyor, with Angela Hasluck (rating) being appointed a surveyor.
Finally, graduate Abigail Barnes is joining the specialist markets team as a surveyor after passing her assessment of professional competence.
As part of its drive to expand its regional industrial and logistics operations in the South West, Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has appointed Brett Casswell to its Bristol office where he will oversee both sectors.
Joining as the national property agency’s newest associate director, Casswell has previously worked in its Northampton office as a general practice surveyor. More recently he was development surveyor for Devon-based London and Devonshire Trust.
“Brett’s in-depth knowledge of the industrial and logistics sector is a welcome addition to the growing team which will drive further our work in industrial leasing and sales, investments and development,” commented Darren Sheward, head of LSH’s Bristol office.
Global law firm, Squire Patton Boggs (SPB), has hired David Hardy to join its Leeds-based planning and consents team.
A dual qualified barrister and solicitor, he specialises in contentious planning, environmental and compulsory purchase-related work and has been ranked as a Band One planning solicitor by the legal guide Chambers UK.
Hardy, who is a former head of planning at Eversheds in Leeds, said: “The planning and consents team at Squire Patton Boggs has a formidable reputation and I am thrilled to join the firm and play a part in its continued success.”
Moving in the opposite direction, Lindsay Texel has left Squire Patton Boggs to join the Leeds practice of Clarion as a partner in its commercial property team. She first trained with Eversheds in the city, transferring to its property team in 1998 before joining Hammonds, now Squire Patton Boggs, two years later and becoming a partner in 2007.
During her 17 years’ experience, Texel has completed secondments to Lloyds Banking Group and has dealt with several high value real estate finance transactions for Lloyds and for other major financial institutions.
Rob Jewell has been appointed as portfolio director at Land Securities, overseeing the company’s Trinity Leeds and White Rose shopping centres in Leeds as well as the Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow.
Jewell — who joined LS from the Dutch multinational banking and financial services group ING in 2011, where he acted as an investment and asset manager — was previously a director to Land Securities’ West End portfolio in London, overseeing the first ever expansion and complete digitalisation of Piccadilly Lights at Piccadilly Circus.
Part of his immediate responsibilities will be to mastermind the extension and redevelopment of both Leeds’ White Rose Shopping Centre and Buchanan Galleries. “Rob is an asset to the Land Securities team, and will continue the great work in Leeds and Glasgow,” said Ailish Christian-West, head of shopping centres at Land Securities. “Leeds is especially important given that Trinity Leeds and White Rose have achieved so much for the city and its regional economy.”
