WK Nowlan Property — which claims to be Ireland’s top multi-disciplinary property asset management company — has confirmed that Killian O’Higgins will take over as its new managing director.
O’Higgins has global experience of the commercial property market and will succeed Kevin Nowlan, who last year moved to a newly-created position as chief executive in Nowlan’s Hibernia REIT company, with immediate effect.
Based in Dublin, a major part of O’Higgins’ brief will be the development of WK Nowlan’s property asset management business and its expansions into niche areas of the property services sector.
He served as managing director of the commercial property listings company DTZ Sherry FitzGerald until 2001 before transferring to London to take up a similar position with DTZ International. O’Higgins then held various senior positions with the firm’s African, Middle East and European divisions before taking over as its Hong Kong-based chief executive for Asia and the Pacific Rim.
After almost three decades with the bank, Barclays has appointed Judith Gage as the new head of its nationwide real estate division. Part of her role will be to provide professional property investors and developers with financial support of up to £3m.
Gage is leaving her present position as head of business banking for the bank’s South West region, which she has held for less than two years, to lead a 52-strong specialist team of Barclays Business real estate managers.
She joined the bank in 1986 and, after working in various retail team posts, transferred to Barclays Business 10 years later as a manager. In 2004 she began a six year appointment as area business manager for Cardiff. Commenting on her new UK-wide responsibility, Gage said: “I’m looking forward to leading a team of talented experts, each one equipped with local knowledge to ensure we are offering our customers the best service possible.”
A retail property agent responsible for identifying and negotiating at least half of Poundland’s present chain of 500 stores is joining Lambert Smith Hampton’s Birmingham office. Richard Jones, who has more than 20 years’ experience, will take over as the commercial property consultancy’s retail director.
The oldest surviving law firm in Wales has made two new appointments to its commercial team. After four years at Gabb and Co, property specialist Matthew Price has been promoted to an associate with the South Wales-based practice. And Nigel Flanagan joins the firm — which was founded in 1760 — as a property, contracts and procurement specialist.
Juliette Morgan is joining commercial real estate brokers Cushman & Wakefield as a partner in its East London-based marketing group. She is currently head of property at Tech City UK where part of her responsibility is advising the Government on technology initiatives. For the time being Morgan will continue with her Tech City post on a part time basis.
