Leading auctioneers Pugh and The Auction People held four auctions in June, smashing the £11 million mark. Particular highlights at the auctions include the sale of a police station, multiple nightclubs and land in the north.
The auctions which were held in Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle, raised a total of £11.3 million in June alone. Manchester was the largest auction and was held at Old Trafford, home of Manchester United. 80 out of the 115 lots sold at that auction raising £7.2 million alone. Highlights from the auction include the sale of an old police station in Chipping which sold for £15,000 above the guide price and an old nightclub in Oldham which went for £100,000 when the guide price stated £75-85,000 – another fantastic result.

Over in Liverpool, two parcels of land sold for four times the guide price. The land at the Indigo Works industrial estate in Ellesmere Port hit the hammer at £65,000 rather than the £10-20,000 guide price after a serious bidding war.
Speaking of the success of their June auctions, Paul Thompson, auctioneer and Director for Pugh and The Auction People, said: “We had a number of sales leading up to each event and interest remained high at all venues when we started to sell in the room. It was a great overall turnout and it was clear that many of the people were there with the intention of buying.
“Vacant land, renovation projects and buy-to-let opportunities seem to be the biggest draw for buyers across the North as people look to build their property portfolios and start investing in the future.”
