As South Wales continues to improve in both economic and commercial property terms, an increasing number of businesses are choosing to launch operations in Cardiff as a means of taking advantage of the strong consumer climate.
One such firm is Better Bathrooms, which will open a new showroom on the city’s Hadfield Road this Friday, the 25th of June, after agreeing terms with landlord Mon Motors Ltd.
The 17,272 sq ft showroom was previously occupied by Audi and CVC and will now become Better Bathrooms’ ninth UK outlet – the firm’s first foray into Wales. Forming an integral part of the company’s expansion plan, the move is expected to create numerous jobs both within the local area and in the administrative division of Better Bathrooms.
Founder and chief executive officer of Better Bathrooms, Colin Stevens, believes that the new outlet will prove to be a huge success.
He says; “We are delighted to add our first Welsh store to our property portfolio and have recruited a great team who are friendly, knowledgeable and from the local area.
“We are very excited about the store and the opportunity to be part of the Cardiff community.
“The new showroom looks great and it is a fantastic addition to the Better Bathrooms’ brand.”
DTZ acted on behalf of the landlord and, according to Surveyor Chris Yates of DTZ Cardiff’s Industrial Agency Team, the location and profile of the area surrounding the property played a huge role in Better Bathrooms deciding to take up the space.
He says; “Our client recognised that most car dealerships are now insisting upon bespoke properties and as such we sought to target occupiers who would benefit from locating to one of Cardiff’s premier commercial locations.
“The property benefits from excellent road communications and profile, situated in an area incorporating a number of national trade and out-of-town retailers.
“Better Bathrooms appreciated the property’s excellent location and recognised the opportunity this presented to further drive their UK wide expansion plans.”
In a separate statement, DTZ has confirmed that former Savills surveyor Tom Bathurst (pictured below) will join its Birmingham-based residential development team.
The role will draw upon Mr Bathurst’s extensive experience in both the valuation and residential development departments – a challenge DTZ Birmingham’s residential team director Iain McArthur feels he will rise to.
Mr McArthur says; “Having a high quality residential development offer in the Midlands region is crucial to our clients as a value driver to support their growth strategy in the development sector.
“Tom’s appointment will allow DTZ to exert greater influence in the sector providing support to our clients as well as assisting the team in growing our business. We are delighted to have him on board.”
