Palmer Capital — the London-based real estate investment and asset management group — has appointed a new deputy chairman to oversee its continued growth. The business currently manages more than £550m worth of property.
Nick Cooper, who has also been appointed a director, is leaving his post as a senior member of the Townsend Group where he was responsible for the American firm’s expansion in Europe and Asia.
Before that, he was a senior member of ING Real Estate and chief executive officer of ING Real Estate Select, a global real estate multi-manager which he built up during his 10-year tenure. He also served as chairman of the Association of Real Estate Funds in the UK.
Palmer Capital is a fund manager and venture capital backer of property companies. It is also a shareholder in nine UK and one German property development and asset management companies and manages assets across Britain, Continental European and Asia for institutional and private investors.
The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and NatWest has named David Salisbury as its new head of real estate for Yorkshire and the North-East.
Stepping up from his position as senior director for corporate real estate at RBS in Leeds, he has more than 30 experience in corporate banking including 15 years as a specialist inproperty lending to North of England companies.
Salisbury’s new role involves expanding relationships with clients, embedding business development plans and enabling his 11-strong team to maximise time with clients.
Chartered surveyor Johnson Fellows — which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary — has made two promotions within its Birmingham office.
Associate partners Angela Sheen and Ian Starbuck, who both work in the property management division, have now been made up to full partners. After working in the Midlands’ property market since 1998, Starbuck joined the firm six years ago. Sheen was recruited in 2007 after working at Ohio-based Stark Enterprises for nine years.
The promotions follow another good year for Johnson Fellows. Earlier this year, it took over Salway Bradbury, of Solihull, to consolidate its regional and national reputation.
Towler Shaw Roberts (TSR) has recruited one of Britain’s best amateur horsewomen to its Telford office as a chartered surveyor and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyor registered valuer.
An experienced asset manager who specialises in distressed properties, Suzi Oakley has joined TSR after eight years with Savills. In her spare time she competes as an amateur rider on a national level, recently qualifying for Horse of the Year Show and winning the Supreme Amateur Cob Championship at this year’s The Royal International Horse Show.
Due Diligence expert Claire Shepherdhas moved to Edinburgh-based Energised Environments.
An environmental specialist with 10 years’ experience, Shepherd has worked on, and project managed, a variety of major commercial transactions including international airports, oil and gas industry properties in the UK and Europe, as well as office, industrial and retail portfolios.
