Richard Slipper is now a senior director within the country’s planning development and regeneration team and Mark Napier, a member of the Glasgow property management department, has been made an associate director.

Slipper, who will lead the largest planning team north of the border, has been a lead advisor on some of Scotland’s key developments such as St James Quarter and New Waverley in Edinburgh. His clients have included TIAA Henderson Real Estate, Artisan, Land Securities, F&C REIT, the City of Edinburgh Council and Mitsubishi.

Napier is part of an ever expanding property management team and will continue to represent clients such as Moorfield , Ardstone and British Airways Pension Fund.

Earlier this year GVA merged with James Barr in Scotland before the company announced its strategic amalgamation with Bilfinger Real Estate, a global services company headquartered in Germany.

“As we open a new chapter in the long history of this 200-year-old company, we are keen to announce the promotion of these key individuals,” commented Keith Aitken, a regional senior director at GVA James Barr. “These promotions demonstrate our commitment to continuing to provide our clients with the best possible advice.”

Commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has strengthened its commercial property teams across both its Manchester and Birmingham offices.

In Manchester senior surveyor Stuart McGill has joined the property and asset management department while surveyor Joe Johnson becomes the latest member of the building consultancy team.

And after completing a five months’ placement at LSH’s Guildford office graduate surveyor Sam Dowson has been offered a place with the firm’s Birmingham industrial team. He will be joined at the Midland’s office by fellow graduate surveyor, Bhav Purewal, who has been assigned to LSH’s lease advisory team.

A raft of nationwide staff appointments includes four promotions at the Newcastle office of real estate services provider DTZ where its head of property Carl Howarth, has been promoted to director. He will now be responsible for both the Newcastle and Leeds branches.

The Tyneside office’s three other promotions are: Ashleigh Tokarski who works in the development consulting department, Richard Houghton from valuation, and Jim Stevenson a member of the project and building consultancy, who have all been promoted to associate director.

A year of what it describes as “unprecedented growth” has allowed the international law firm Gateley to make changes within its Manchester property department. Simon Maddox steps up from associate to senior associate in the real estate team and paralegal, Michelle Whetham, joins the construction team.

University of Aberystwyth law graduate Ryan Woodcock has joined property agents CPBigwood as technical coordinator. A store supervisor for an outdoor clothes brand before commencing his studies, he will be joining the firm’s service charge department.

Alan Wales is to join property adviser CBRE in its North West building consultancy team as a graduate surveyor.  Currently studying at Liverpool John Moore’s University, he completed a work placement with the company in 2013 and will be employed full time when he graduates next year.
