With its West Country portfolio now topping 400 properties Miller Commercial has appointed a new senior executive to its property management team.

As facilities manager, Chris Duckham will co-ordinate and oversee maintenance work for all of Miller’s business clients across the three counties of Cornwall, Somerset and Devon. His role encompasses everything from changing an office light bulb to overseeing a complete refurbishment and redecoration of a retail property.

“Having Chris on board also ensures that our lead management surveyors are able to focus on the main role of today’s property manager, which is chiefly to asset-manage the clients’ properties to maximise returns, respond efficiently to tenant demands and needs and enhance and develop the properties ‘brand’ reputation,” said associate Adam Hayes, who heads the commercial management department.

The Birmingham office of commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) is seeing two staff changes this winter.

After seven years at Wolverhampton-based chartered surveyors Bulleys, Matthew Tilt is joining LSH as an associate director to its industrial and logistics team. He began his career at Towler Shaw Roberts with an MSc in real estate management from the University of Central England.

In January the industrial team’s current director, Alex Carr, is moving to London where he will join the head of LSH’s national industrial and logistics division, Steve Williams, to create the new team alongside Nick Lloyd, head of capital markets.

Stephanie Mullenger has been named as the new head of property and asset consultancy ES Group’s Manchester office.

A former managing director of Manchester Airports Group’s property division, where she was responsible for development at all the group’s airports including its new £800m Airport City project within Greater Manchester’s Enterprise Zone, Mullenger is joining the ES Group from her own consultancy.

Russell & Russell, the Bolton-based solicitors has appointed Alex Walsh as its new head of commercial property.

Walsh will deal with all aspects of commercial property law, including acquisitions and disposals, leases and licences, portfolio management, property finance and development. He joins the firm from Napthens in Preston.

Property specialist, Julie Devenport, is strengthening the commercial team at Milnsbridge-based law firm Holroyd & Co. With more than 25 years’ experience — 10 of them managing a Huddersfield commercial department of her own — her appointment comes as the practice reports a continued rise in business.

Property expert Shelagh Mason is joining the Channel Island’s law firm of Collas Crill as a consultant.

Moving from the Guernsey office of Spicer & Partners, she will advise on all aspects of UK property and property development, construction, property portfolio and management. After moving to the island in 1999, Mason also became a specialist in Guernsey commercial property law and leasehold matters.

CBRE’s Manchester office has appointed Jonathan Cook as a surveyor within its office agency team.

He joins from the Co-operative Group where his role included the asset management of its regional non-trading portfolio. In his new position at CBRE, Cook will assist with the disposal and acquisition of offices owned by the company’s retained clients such as Bruntwood, Orbit and the Carlton House Group.

In line with its intention to re-focus its sales strategy toward commercial and business properties, Wales’s leading auction house has hired real estate professional Keri Harding-Jones.

A property management and valuation university graduate, she said: “It’s a really exciting new challenge for me to work to help expand the commercial property side of the Paul Fosh Auction’s business.” Under Harding-Jones guidance the Newport-based firm will now actively target industrial, commercial and retail sellers across the country.
